Speakers, in nearly all applications, and especially small speakers (diaphragm diameters less than 120mm), are best served when operating with an enclosed and sealed acoustic volume into which the speaker’s rear wave radiates. Whereas the volume is dictated by various opposing requirements, including, but not limited to, overall product industrial design, desired frequency response, acoustic output (sound pressure level), this paper focuses on enclosure volume. We normalize the volumes to produce a maximally flat response (QTC1 = 0.707) and present speakers that dissipate a continuous power in the 5W to 20W range.
