Quickest Way to Evaluate PUI Pressure Sensors (On Real Hardware)
If you’re searching “how to quickly test a pressure sensor,” the shortest path is to use our ready-to-run evaluation boards. They expose power, digital/analog I/O, and known-good firmware examples so you can log pressure and temperature within minutes, not days. Below are the three new boards and how to pick the right one for your range, interface, and supply.

| PSD0603130-EB | Absolute (digital) | 30–200 kPa (4.35–29.02 psi) | I²C or SPI | 1.8–5.0 | 24-bit ΔΣ ADC, temp res 0.003 °C; burst 2000 kPa |
| PSA070140-EB | Gauge (analog) | −40…+40 kPa | Analog | 4.7–5.3 | ~75 mV FS typ at 5 V, ±0.1 %FS linearity typ, overload 80 kPa |
| PSA0201700-EB | Absolute (analog) | 0–700 kPa | Analog | 1.8–5.4 | 0.078 mV/kPa typ sensitivity; overload 2100 kPa, burst 7000 kPa |
Why these boards make testing trivial
- No custom PCB required. Each board breaks out power and data on standard headers; level shifting is onboard where needed.
- Known electrical envelope. Operating ranges, burst/overload ratings, and temperature limits are documented and conservative. (e.g., PSD0603130 burst 2000 kPa; PSA070140 overload 80 kPa.)
- Firmware starter kits. We include simple Arduino sketches for both digital boards so you can read pressure/temperature immediately.
- Environment-ready. PSD0401120-EB hardware is water-resistant to 100 m for “beyond waterproof” experiments.
Pick the right board (decision grid)
- Need altitude, barometric logging, or sealed enclosures? Use an absolute sensor.
- PSD0603130-EB if you want SPI/I²C, wider 30–200 kPa span, and very fine temperature readout (0.003 °C).
- PSD0401120-EB if I²C-only is fine and you want water-resistance to 100 m out of the box.
- PSA0201700-EB for higher range up to 700 kPa with documented sensitivity and temperature coefficients.
- Measuring pressure relative to ambient (leak, airflow, suction)? Use a gauge sensor.
- PSA070140-EB for low-range ±40 kPa with a clean analog differential output and tight linearity.
Hookup and first read (digital boards)
Power & bus. Supply 3.3 V (both boards accept 1.8–5 V input on headers; onboard regulation/level shifting handles the rest), wire SDA/SCL (and CSB/SDO for SPI on PSD0603130-EB), and open the serial monitor.
Example flow (I²C):
- Initialize bus; 2) start a measurement; 3) read raw bytes; 4) apply provided conversion to kPa and °C (shown in our sample code).
Example flow (SPI/I²C):
The PSD0603130 sketch demonstrates device bring-up and readout using a simple MIS20xx API—pressure in kPa and temperature in °C print to console at ~2 Hz.
Hookup and first read (analog gauge boards)
Power. 5 V for PSA070140-EB; Tie grounds.
Signal. Read the differential output: VOUT+ and VOUT− relative to GND. For negative pressure (vacuum), VOUT− can exceed VOUT+, so capture the difference (VOUT+ − VOUT−). Buffer into your ADC (recommend differential input) and scale per full-scale mV specs.
Key electrical limits (for fast design sanity checks)
| Parameter | PSD0603130-EB | PSD0401120-EB | PSA070140-EB | PSA0201700-EB |
| Operating temp (°C) | −40 to +125 | −20 to +85 | −20 to +85 | −40 to +125 |
| Overload / Burst | 87.08 psi overload; 2000 kPa burst | 300 kPa overload | 80 kPa overload; 400 kPa burst | 2100 kPa overload; 7000 kPa burst |
| ADC / Output | 24-bit digital (I²C/SPI) | 20–21-bit digital (I²C) | Analog, ~75 mV FS | Analog, 0.078 mV/kPa typ. |
Minimal test setups
- USB-powered laptop + Arduino Uno (or similar) → PSD0401120-EB / PSD0603130-EB or PSA0201700-EB. Use our example sketches to verify pressure and temperature changes by simply pressing on a sealed volume or elevating the board a few meters.
- Bench supply + differential ADC (e.g., on your MCU dev kit) → PSA070140-EB. Zero at ambient, apply known pressure/vacuum, and record the voltage to confirm sensitivity and linearity.
Bottom line
If you need to prove out pressure sensing fast—absolute for barometric/altimeter use or gauge for relative tests—these evaluation boards reduce bring-up to wiring and a serial console. They were built to be tested easily, survive realistic environments, and get you to data without custom hardware.
