Advancing Audio, Haptics, and MEMS Design in 2025

Electronic designs continue to get smaller and more complex, while expectations around performance, reliability, and availability keep rising. Throughout 2025, we focused on practical innovation that expands technologies engineers can design in quickly, qualify confidently, and rely on over the product lifecycle. Our work this year centers on strengthening our core audio portfolio, expanding into adjacent MEMS sensing technologies, and removing common design and supply-chain friction points engineers face in production programs.

Expanding MEMS Solutions for Smarter System Design and Supply Chain Diversification

MEMS technology plays a growing role in modern system design, enabling higher performance in smaller footprints and lower power budgets. In 2025, we expanded beyond traditional audio MEMS into adjacent sensing technologies, while also prioritizing geographical diversification of manufacturing to support long-term supply continuity.

2025 MEMS Focus Areas

Focus Area Description
MEMS microphones Expanded options with improved noise performance, lower power consumption, and enhanced environmental protection
MEMS pressure sensors Advanced pressure sensor solutions for environmental and medical applications
Complementary MEMS sensors Groundwork for additional sensors, designed to work alongside microphones and pressure sensors in multi-sensor systems
Diversified sourcing Support for diversified sourcing strategies without compromising performance, quality, or qualification requirements

For design engineers, this enables tighter system integration—combining acoustic, pressure, and other sensor data—while also simplifying qualification and supporting regionally diversified manufacturing strategies.

Haptics Innovation: Driving Realistic and Responsive Feedback

Haptic feedback continues to be a critical part of user interaction across medical devices, industrial equipment, and consumer electronics. In 2025, we continued investing in haptics technologies that deliver consistent response, predictable behavior, and flexible integration across different system architectures.

Our focus included:

  • ERM, LRA, and piezo haptic actuators optimized for size, efficiency, and repeatable performance

  • Practical guidance around drive requirements, resonant frequency control, and waveform tuning

  • Support for high-voltage piezo haptic designs that require precise control to achieve crisp, repeatable tactile feedback

By addressing both the actuator and the system-level design considerations, engineers are able to reduce tuning cycles and reach stable haptic performance earlier in development.

Drop-In Replacements for Key Components

Component availability and product obsolescence remain ongoing challenges for long-lifecycle designs. To address this, we continued developing drop-in replacement solutions for key components from major manufacturers, allowing engineers to maintain existing designs while reducing supply and lifecycle risk.

Multiple drop-in replacement solutions are already in production, with additional products released in 2025 to address gaps created by obsoleted parts and extended lead times.

Drop-In Replacement Examples

Component Type Key Compatibility Target
Piezo benders and piezo buzzers Compatible with existing mechanical and electrical interfaces
MEMS microphones Low-power and waterproof options designed for seamless substitution
Ruggedized microphones and speakers Water-resistant and IP-rated solutions for outdoor and industrial environments

These solutions are designed to match existing footprints, performance targets, and qualification requirements, reducing redesign effort while improving long-term reliability in real-world operating conditions.

Accelerating Design-In with Evaluation Boards and Reference Hardware

To support faster prototyping and validation, we expanded our evaluation and reference hardware offerings in 2025. These tools give engineers early visibility into device performance, power behavior, and system interaction before committing to full custom designs.

Evaluation boards help enable:

  • Faster performance comparisons

  • Easier firmware and signal-chain development

  • Reduced uncertainty during early design stages

Adoption of these tools—along with increased early-stage design discussions and application-specific customization requests—reflects growing engagement around multi-sensor systems that combine audio, haptics, and MEMS sensing.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Heading into 2026, we will continue building on this foundation with:

  • Deeper system-level solutions that combine audio, haptics, and sensing

  • Continued expansion of our MEMS sensor portfolio

  • Additional evaluation hardware and reference designs to support faster design-in

Our focus remains straightforward: help design engineers solve real problems with dependable performance, efficient integration, and long-term product confidence.
